Compensation:$11.00 to $13.00 per hour
Verify patient benefits. Obtain Pre-Authorization numbers and Pre-Certifications. Responsible for preparation of bills and invoices, the calculation of sales tickets and charge slips, and verification of billing with accounts receivable ledger Contacts patients regarding outstanding balances. Processes changes in information system to support accurate and efficient billing process and financial close Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper. Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints. Prepares, reviews and sends patient statements if necessary Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts. Reviews accounts for possible assignment and makes recommendations to the Billing Supervisor, also prepares information for the collection Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers. Processes payments from insurance companies and prepares a daily Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations. Establishes payment plans to help patients manage payment of bills. Sends delinquent accounts to collection agencies. Medical Billing Job Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred. 2-4 years of experience. Emdeon and Availity Experience preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Must be available after hours and on call 24/7. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Strong accounting skills. Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. Commitment to excellence and high standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow. Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Minimum of high school Diploma or its GED equivalent
